Hello, I'm Zia.

I'm a self-taught product designer with background in applied mathematics and computer science.

My story

I've dissected human bodies, performed music in chamber halls, played tennis and volleyball, and published yearbooks. Now I am climbing rocks, selling art, translating at conventions, and designing apps. Seriously, my life is everywhere.

At the same time, I always find myself coming back to what gets me connected to the world. Shared culture. Values. Everyone has a story. We all connect with visuals and words. That's why I am sticking with design. I wish to breath story into the practical needs of the users and the products.

I am currently looking out for a new opportunity that will allow me to expand in my passions. My background in both software development and design will hopefully contribute to fluid communication and dynamic growth. And of course , I will not forget to bring in my ball of joy and excitement for the team.

What I'm Doing

My strengths

I have yet a long way to go as a product designer. But consider the following:
1. I learn fast. I taught myself Figma in a week and came up with the first project in a month that won me 1st place in the Desgin Challenge. Learning a new tool and adjusting to a new environment is not a problem, but rather an adventure I look forward to.
2. I have a full-stack vision. I have work/project experience and skill sets ranging from back-end software engineering to front-end development and design. Interdepartmental communication is key at project management / handoff, and I am ready to have understanding ears for both sides.
3. I seek for more. Work is never the only thing I do. When working at Intel, I led an intern cohort as a co-lead. When working at a school gym, I spearheaded an independent project to make management more efficient. I seek for growth as part of a whole.
